I can't believe that we have been in our home and Idaho for a whole year already. There has been lots of changes that have happened since we moved in. Take a look :)

Month of July

July came and went pretty fast. We spent the 4th of July with the Butterworth's and were lucky enough to have Travis and Brandi here for a few days. The 3 married couples went and played some mini golf and went out to eat. It was so fun to be able to hang out with each other because that doesn't happen very often. I went on a mini vacation to visit my parents while Tyler was putting in some long working hours and it just happened to be over Oakley's big celebration, so that was fun. Other than that we didn't do a whole lot around here.

A Work in Progress.....

The weekend of our 2nd anniversary we decided we were going to prep our yard and plant grass so maybe we could have some by the end of the summer. ;) Lorie (Tyler's mom) said she wanted to get some sun rays, so she wanted to come and help. I don't think she realized how hard our soil is and how many hours it was going to take, but we sure appreciated all of her help. I didn't realize how big our back yard was until you have to hand rake it all. It was such a great experience :) and we have some grass growing right now. :)  I am not a very patient person, so I am struggling with this whole grass growing process and only having half of our yard come up, but it has been pretty fun to see it progress as it gets warmer.

Before (Front Yard)

After (Front Yard) We have a slight weed problem.
I am patiently waiting for the first time we can mow it.

Backyard (This is the better part of the backyard. The other
half is just weeds taller than I am and no grass. Definitely going to have to
replant that part.)

I also planted our very first garden and surprisingly things are growing in it. I wasn't quite sure ANYTHING would grow. The best part about being a teacher is having my summers off and being able to take care of a garden and having flowers in my flower pots.

Project #1 Complete

Tyler and I decided we wanted a patio in our backyard, but thought down the road we would do it. Well Lowe's and Home Depot have become our newest addiction and we found some pavers that we LOVED. Well the next week they went on sale for a GREAT price, so we decided to go ahead and do it. Tyler researched on how to do a patio yourself. (how deep, how much of this and that) We started in April and just barely finished the final touches of it. This was a pretty big process and I am not sure that I would do it again.
Step 1: Dig a hole in ground that is SUPER hard. It had to be like 8 inches deep or something like that.

All of the pavers we had to unload. All 180!!!

Step 2: Making sure the surface is compacted and flat. Step 3 & 4: Happened while i was at work, crushed rock and sand were put down before the pavers could go down.

Step 5: Put this GIANT puzzle together. Thanks to Trevor and his amazing skills we were able to figure out how each of these could go together. There is more than one way for these pavers to go together, but that doesn't mean it is the correct way. :(

Step 6 & 7: Put sand inside the grooves and wet it down to cement them together.

Step 8: Enjoy it! :)

If I were to ever do a patio again I think I would choose to make sure the pavers have straight edges and fit together only ONE way. But we sure do love this and love the look of it!! :)

Jemma and Summer riding the snowmobile
WAY back in March Tyler and I took a few days off of work and headed up to Island Park to go and hang out with my family. It was nice to get away from life for a little bit and just have fun. The guys all went and rode the snowmobiles around for a while. The girls stayed in the cabin and just hung out and had some fun.
